How rare are nuts in the wild?

Like walnuts, peanuts, almonds, cashews, etc? I know we mass harvest them now but what about before? How often could you find them? And how often can you find them now?

Chosen Answer:

All nuts that are now mass grown and harvested originated in the wild. They could be found as often before farming as they can now, but the answer varies depending on the time of year they’re ripe, and the location where they grow. For example, almonds are found in the scrub and thorn forests of the tropics, the evergreen scrub forests of temperate areas, and in desert scrub and waste in all climatic zones. The almond tree is also found in the semidesert areas of the Old World in southern Europe, the eastern Mediterranean, Iran, the Middle East, China, Madeira, the Azores, and the Canary Islands.

Peanuts, however, are not a true nut, but a legume, related to peas and beans. They, too, can be found when mature, and in climates where they will grow.

Both tree nuts and peanuts produce one crop per year, for a few weeks.
